History
"Parables Productions" started about six years ago, with just seven members. We chose the name because of the verse in Matt 13v34 where we read that Jesus did not speak to the people without using parables. We feel that this is what we are doing, telling the stories of the bible through drama.
BenefitsWe have seen many people touched down through the years. People laugh, people cry but most importantly people go home and give what they've seen a second thought. In this day and age when people are used of been visually stimulated, what better way to make God's word come alive to them. I think it is important to say also that we the actors benefit greatly also. We not only enjoy great fellowship when we come together to rehearse but more importantly we get to know God's word in a deeper way as we study the characters of the bible.
PerformancesWe are delighted to say that we performed the play called "Journey Home" ( An adaptation of the O.T. book of Ruth.) in the Cork Arts Theatre from the 10th to the 14th of June 08. It was an intense week of acting but how we saw God move, among ourselves and more importantly among our audiences. People packed into the theatre each of the five nights and witnessed ( in their own words) the word of God come alive on stage. People graciously said that the music, lights, set, costumes, make up, props and last but not least the acting was truly professional and we praise our great God for being with us all the way. We have heard of countless stories of people from all backgrounds and religions being moved to tears while watching the true life stories of people, who trusted their God in the most difficult of times and in the end saw Him move miraculously. I am so glad that this story touched peoples hearts and imaginations just like it touched mine.
